A letter to AOHELL….*coughs* I mean AOL
So I have issues with my email account and that prompted me to write a nasty letter to AOL, only it came out a little too nasty, so I will not send it and instead post it here for your amusement!
Dear AOL Dipshits:
I have been a loyal customer to you for over 10 years and to say that you have served me well would be an absolute lie. I have encountered error after error and plenty of problems with software throughout the years. I have dealt with those issues and your morons at your customer service numbers and have put my feelings aside and have continued to stupidly subscribe to your service.
I am beyond perturbed with the latest issue because it involves my primary email account, an account which happens to be linked to EVERYTHING that involves, work, school, finance and play. It began a few months ago with the random email not sending. Sometimes I would get an error stating that it had not sent and other times I would get nothing and no response from people that I knew would respond, so when I asked those people if they had gotten my email they replied with a no. Again I was irritated to say the least, so I contacted your moronic customer service department and was given the run around for 2 hours by being transferred to “someone that could better assist me.” After a long, long continuous battle with no response I finally gave up, hung up the phone and put the matter aside.
The matter seemed to clear up for a while, my email was sending and I was not getting any errors and now it has started again, only this time not only is the mail not sending but I am getting failure of delivery notices 5 sometimes 6 days after I originally sent the email out. But here is the clinker, people ARE still getting my damned emails even though I am getting notices saying that the delivery of the email failed!! So that prompted me to say WTF and another call to your customer stupid…I mean service department was made!!
Upon calling said customer service I was given the run around, and bounced back and fourth to other areas of the service department. By this time I was dizzy and annoyed at the random transferring of my call, and the Italian side of me came out to play! Yelling ensued and I was finally put through to the head of the customer service department!
I was patched through to a man in India with a very, very strong accent, named Bob. This prompted me to laugh to myself as I know this guy’s name probably wasn’t Bob! We then proceeded to go through what my issue was and then run many checks, none of which worked. He then proceeded to tell me that I needed to restore my AOL software in which I proceeded to tell your customer service goon that this happens on every single computer that I have used. It is not a glitch on my side of the spectrum. Then he proceeded to tell me that it was most likely a spam filter issue, which I could see if I had issues with incoming mail and not outgoing. So he then proceeded to tell me to tinker with my spam filters, so I did. Nothing happened!!! Then he proceeded to tell me to try reinstalling my software anyway, so I did…..NOTHING!!! So he proceeds to tell me that they have experienced this issue before and it is usually a result of the spam filters. So what I am gathering from this situation is that spam filters filter out emails that you, yourself send to other people. Now, I thought spam filters were supposed to be filtering out crap that spammers send to you, not stuff you send out to others, which is kinda the purpose of spam filters, isn’t it? So he then proceeds to tell me that what can happen is the filters become unstable and cause glitches and that is why I was asked to restore my software. I proceeded to tell your goon, that we tried that and it didn’t work!!
Now here is what I don’t get, I know there is a bug in your software because some people who have your service have told me that they experience the same thing, now instead of dragging me through a lengthy problem solving conversation of crap, why not just admit that your software has a glitch and that it will be fixed in the next updated version?
Due to the seriousness of this issue I am seriously considering canceling my AOL account, unless you fix this issue.
Respectfully,
A disgruntled AOL user!
